NEW YORK CITY BRONX (WABC) – As Thanksgiving draws to a close, the Bronx community will come together to help feed those most in need.

Volunteers at the Bronx Works Pantry in the Grand Concourse have partnered with the New York Food Bank to pack hundreds of boxes of food, including a Thanksgiving turkey.

These boxes go to families that wouldn’t have gone otherwise.

“There’s a family with a lot of kids in my district, and I want to make sure no one goes hungry for Thanksgiving,” said Congressman Latoya Joyner of the Bronx.

Further south of Hunts Point, volunteers packed thousands of Thanksgiving dinners with the help of Bardor’s, a food distributor in the South Bronx.

The procession began earlier this year and grew nearly three blocks as hundreds of people waited for this year’s meal.

Many people have been waiting for the cold for more than 4 hours.
