Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2021: Balloon Inflation, New York Street Closure, Performers, etc.

NEW YORK (WABC) – This year, the 95th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade returns to its pre-pandemic form.

Last year’s celebration was televised only, but this year’s parade will include nearly 8,000 marches through the streets of Manhattan beginning Thursday at 9 a.m.

The spectacle is an exclusive combination of giant character helium balloons, spectacular floats, marching bands, performance groups, celebrities, clowns, and the lone Santa Claus to captivate New York City audiences and national television audiences. I’ll make you happy again

Here’s what you need to know about the parade.

The Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place on Thursday, November 25, 2021 and will depart from Central Park West and 77th Avenue at 9 a.m. The procession heads toward Columbus Circle, turns toward Central Park South, and travels from 6th Avenue to 34th Avenue West. Then turn west and end at 7th Avenue in front of Macy’s Herald Square.

The balloon will extend from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Audiences can enter along the lines of West 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue. Large backpacks, coolers, alcoholic beverages, chairs and umbrellas are clearly prohibited and participants will be screened before entering the viewing route. Please note that at the request of the Organizer, all participants over the age of 12 must be vaccinated and provide evidence to the screener of participation in inflating the balloon. Children under 12 years of age can participate with fully vaccinated adults. Participants are encouraged to socially distance themselves and masks are always required.

Once screened, visitors will enter the inflation display area at West 72nd Street and Central Park West. The Balloon Observation Path winds around the American Museum of Natural History. Audiences bypass the viewing areas of West 81st Street and Central Park West.

Large backpacks, lawn chairs, umbrellas, large coolers, and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Anyone who sees suspicious activity should alert police officers or call 911. The NYPD terrorist hotline is 888-NYC-SAFE.

Some of the returning balloon astronauts are Astronaut Snoopy, “Boss Baby”, “Wimpy Kids Diary”, “Po Patrol” Chase, Pillsbury Doboy, “Ryan’s World” Red Titan, it is a Papas morph from “The Smurf”. “Sonic the Hedgehog and SpongeBob Squarepants.

Introducing new floats (Sarah Bareilly, Renee Ellis Goldsbury, Paulapel, Busy Phillips) led by the “Girls 5 Eva” cast. John Batiste will appear in an alligator-themed boat celebrating the music, food and culture of Louisiana. ,

Other celebrities on hand include Carrie Underwood, Jimmy Allen, Kelly Rowland, Rob Thomas, Kristin Chenoweth, Darren Criss, Alien, Andy Glamour, Mickey Guyton, Chris Lane, Miss America Camille Schlier, “Mole”. “Street” includes the Muppets and the Final Three. At 7:00 a.m., West 81st Street and West 77th Street from Central Park West to Columbus Avenue will be closed to vehicles.

Vehicles will be closed on West 72nd Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue at 8 a.m.

Additional vehicles that stop in the afternoon are:

-Central Park West, West 73rd Street to 85th Street
-West 74th Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
-West 75th Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
-West 76th Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
-West 77th Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
-West 78th Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
-West 80th Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
-West 81st Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
-West 82nd Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
– West 83rd Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
-West 84th Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue
– West 85th Street between Columbus and Central Park West Avenue

-Central Park West and Central Park Transverse Road at West 81st Street (both directions)

After 10 p.m. all West 81st and 77th Streets from Central Park West to Columbus Avenue and from Central Park West to West 59th Street to West 86th Street will be closed. “Broadcast Vehicles Only” may be parked on the east side of Columbus Avenue from 77th West to 76th West from 9:00 a.m. All broadcast vehicles must leave Columbus Avenue by 11:30 p.m.

The parade begins at 9 a.m. at Central Park West and West 77th Street and continues along the following routes.

– South of Central Park West to Columbus Circle
-South to West 59th Street via E/S Columbus Circle
-West 59th Street East to 6th Avenue
-6th Avenue South to West 34th Street
-West 34th Street to 7th Avenue (Distributed Area) West

Additional closures are:

– Between West 34th Street and West 41st Street – until 1 p.m.
-6th Avenue between West 23rd Street and West 4th 2nd Street – 2:00AM to 1:00PM
-7th Avenue to West 34th Street and West 42nd Street from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
-West 34th Street between 6th and 8th Avenues from 5pm (Wednesdays) to 5pm
-West 59th Street-7th Avenue and Central Park West E/B—midnight until 2 p.m.
-West 59th Street between 5th Avenue and Central Park West w/b – 2:00 AM to 2:00 PM

-West 35-Chome between 5th and 8th Avenue -2:00AM to 4:00PM
-West 36th Avenue between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue – 2:00 am to 2:00 pm
-West 37th Street between Broadway and 8th Street -4am to 2pm
-West 38th Street between Broadway and 8th Street -4am to 2pm
-West 8th Avenue between 34th and 40th Streets – 4 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
– Between 38th and 59th Streets – 4 am to 1:30 pm
-West 33rd Street between 7th and 10th Avenues from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
– 39th Street between Broadway and 8th Street, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
-West 40th Street between Broadway and 8th Street -8:00AM to 2:00PM
-West 49th Street between Fifth Avenue and 7th Avenue – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
-West 50th Street between 5th and 7th Avenues at 8am-2pm
-Central Park 65th Street / West 66th Street Transverse Road from 7 a.m. to conclusion
