The game, based on the near future, brings in this version several features that will make combat more versatile. Players will need to use all their skills to make the best use of the devices and decide when and where to use each of them.

The Assault class, for example, has an accessory called the Grappling Hook, which is a kind of weapon that shoots a hook to allow the player to climb. That way, the player can climb to higher points to reach an enemy or position themselves better in battle. This same class has an ability called Nimble, which gives a temporary speed bonus, another feature that makes the game more intense.

Battlefield 2042 has an innovative feature in the franchise which is the ability to completely customize each soldier’s weaponry. All four classes can choose any type of weapon, which creates numerous gameplay possibilities, making the player responsible for deciding how to match each type of weapon with the abilities of the chosen soldier class.

In addition to deciding on equipment before the match, players will be able to customize weapons within the battlefield. The feature promises to make the game more unpredictable, as everyone will be able to switch weapons accessories, which allows changing the gameplay to adapt to each moment of combat.

Maps and game mode

According to EA, Battlefield 2042 will have the biggest maps of all time with scenarios for up to 128 players simultaneously. For this, the producer uses all the power of the new generation of consoles combined with the best of the FrostBite engine. With this, it is possible to see gigantic maps in cities around the world with landscapes that range from destroyed metropolises to places with futuristic buildings, as well as Antarctica.

The game will feature random events on the maps that can completely change the course of battles, such as tornadoes, sandstorms and even rocket launches. To help soldiers move around, players will have a Wingsuit, or glider suit, as well as a tablet-like device where they can order vehicles.

Battlefield 2042 maps

The sandbox of war will have three game modes, but the only detailed one is the All-Out Warfare, a classic experience of the franchise where players battle for control points, divided into two teams. Besides him, the only confirmations for now are that the second mode will be called Hazard Zone and will be focused on Squads, and that there will be no Battle Royale. More information will be released on EA Play Live, part of the Summer Game Fest 2021, scheduled for July 22nd.

A downside is that, unlike other titles in the franchise, this time the game will not feature Campaign mode, where the player follows a story offline. This fact may disappoint many fans, especially because of the BF 2042 theme, which could provide an interesting campaign in a chaotic world. This decision to remove important content can influence when fans buy the game, as there was a considerable increase in the price of the game.

There are still few images and gameplay information effectively, but Battlefiled 2042 certainly intends to innovate the franchise and get closer to the dynamics of competitors of the same genre, seen by the announced features and the possibility of using the technologies of the next generation of consoles.
